Here we will provide updates, highlight the people within Kidney Companions, and share stories and actions you can take in a broader community.

In the past month, we have partnered with two new Kidney Companions, and both companions are active on the transplant list! Both companions are young, vibrant people with incredible yet difficult stories to tell, and both have bright, productive futures ahead of them. Kidney Companion teams met with each companion over the past few weeks to build relationships and to begin mapping out a plan to ensure successful transplants. We are excited to walk with our companions on their journey toward a new kidney and a new life!

On the second Thursday of each month, we gather for all who are interested in learning about Kidney Companions. We will always have an existing volunteer there for you to ask questions and listen to their experience. This is a great time to explore your interest in becoming a volunteer or invite someone who you think would be interested.

Our Walking with Kidney Companions has expanded to include two companions now, in addition to several volunteers. This program is intended to keep our companions active and fit for their transplants while also providing important social engagement and relationship building. If you are interested in joining, the group walks on Tuesday mornings at the Grand Traverse Mall during the winter months.
