Thank you for being part of our Kidney Companions community.

Here we will provide updates, highlight the people within Kidney Companions, and share stories and actions you can take in a broader community.

In reflection of the amazing volunteers and people we constantly engage with in Kidney Companions, this month we thought we would remind ourselves what it means to be a companion and how profound that can be. As a companion, one is asked to play many different roles: sometimes we are 'doing for' others, sometimes we are 'being for' others, sometimes we 'being with' others and sometimes we are 'doing with' others. Whatever role we are asked to play, there is no doubt of the power that comes from connecting with another human being.  When this happens, we are fundamentally saying: you are a person of value and you have humanity, just like I do and together are we sharing this moment. Through this conferred dignity and humanity, we see everyday the power that Kidney Companion relationships are bringing forth, not just for each individual patient but for our broader community.

We are next meeting on Thursday, May 1st (instead of our typical second Thursday of the month). We have the back room reserved at the Filling Station to enjoy food and company.

We regularly gather for all who are interested in learning about Kidney Companions. We will always have an existing volunteer there for you to ask questions and listen to their experience. This is a great time to explore your interest in becoming a volunteer or invite someone who you think would be interested.

Join us Tuesdays at 9:15 am and/or Wednesdays at 11 am for a casual walk with lovely company. Email molly@kidneycompanions.org to be added to the group chat and information of whether we will be walking inside the mall or outside around the Commons.
