We are excited to share great news this month, as this week we celebrate a new kidney transplant for one of our Kidney Companions! Just a few days ago, one of our Kidney Companions received a life-saving, life-changing, magnanimous gift from an incredibly altruistic living donor. And in true fashion, our Kidney Companions have been there, supporting and advocating, at every step. Although the recovery is just underway, we are hearing great news so far about the new transplant. Both donor and recipient are doing well. Although we have had many successes along the way, a kidney transplant represents the ideal goal for Kidney Companions as we seek to Enhance access to kidney transplants in Northern Michigan. And this is now the 5th time we have celebrated this level of success! A kidney transplant also represents the ideal treatment for our Kidney Companion partners; and this is a stark reminder of just how resilient and amazing our partners living with kidney disease are. As our Kidney Companion partner starts her recovery and writes a new chapter, we now have the pleasure of seeing how her life story will unfold from here. These successes also do not come without our amazing volunteers, and this is a striking reminder of their compassion and selfless dedication to others in their most pressing times of need. We would also like to send a special thank you to our Kidney Companion's kidney donor, and we are kindly asking for small donations so we can fully express our gratitude for the gift she has given.
