This week marks the 1-year anniversary of our first successful Kidney Companions transplant! Since that time, we have had two more successful kidney transplants, and we are actively working with new companions walking the path toward a new kidney. In reflecting on our successes in this past year, what stands out the most is our amazing Kidney Companion volunteers. Your dedication and enduring support for our Kidney Companions has been awe-inspiring and life changing. In this past month alone, we have witnessed a transformation in our most recent Kidney Companion, Jerry, to receive a transplant (pictured above). He is doing better each day and continues to receive excellent marks at his check-ups, with our Kidney Companions with him each step of the way. As attestation to the critical role the Kidney Companion volunteers play, we received very high accolades from the Grand Rapids team: "My name is Emily and I am the post-transplant nurse coordinator for Jerry. I just wanted to express my appreciation for the team of Kidney Companions. It has made a great impact on Jerry and his follow up care."
